Does the DVLA protect your data?

Here’s a clip from the BBC’s Spotlight show on how the DVLA are failing to protect motorists personal data. In this case an 84 year old received a private parking ticket from Premier Parking Solutions. The ticket had been incurred by the driver of a charity bus that he keeps, but does not own and was not driving at the time. Since the driver admitted he was driving and appealed, Premier Parking Solutions had no legal basis for subsequently pursuing the keeper, and DVLA did not have reasonable cause for releasing the data.
